My name is Hugo Dias, a Brazilian native and a multidisciplinary artist. After working for over 20 years as an art director, videographer, 3D artist and musician on various projects and companies, I decided to create my own video series on YouTube. Thirsty for the creative freedom I couldn’t find in my previous jobs, I quit my job and focused all my efforts on creating my own brand.
Initially, Insolitum was going to be a channel focusing on short stories that explored cosmic horror in its classic form. To differentiate it from all the material already produced in this genre, I decided to introduce melancholy as a way to eliminate the two-dimensionality that plagues cosmic horror.
As one of the pillars of my productions, I decided to avoid the use of AI-generated imagery as much as possible—a decision applauded by some but criticized by many, as AI seems to be the future of online content creation. I believe AI is a fantastic tool that can empower many creators, but I believe creation is an intrinsically human activity, so relegating the final generation of content to AI contradicts that idea.
Ultimately, my goal with the channel is to continue exploring different worlds of horror and all the things that lurk behind the cloak of darkness.
